One cannot imagine New Year celebrations without dazzling fireworks. But, things turned disastrous in Philippines as more than 150 people were reported injured by fireworks as they prepared to welcome the New Year.
According to reports, a 14-year-old-boy lost his hand in the incident. An elderly man ruptured his eyeball. Till now more than 150 people have been reported injured.
Fireworks play an important role in Philippines New Year celebrations. The natives believe that the noise helps to drive evil away. “Active fireworks users are up by eight percent this year compared to 2012,” a government official said.
The officials have requested to take precautionary measures before using fireworks.
