travel-alertFollowing the blast in Bangkok, twenty-three countries have issued travel advisories urging travelers to avoid Thailand. The Foreign Ministry of Thailand revealed that 12 countries issued “Level 2” warning, while nine countries recommended “Level 3” advisories for its citizens.

Hong Kong is the only country to issue a “Level 4” warning which means a ‘red alert’ and advised its people to avoid non-essential travel to Thailand. On the contrary, Netherland is the only country to issue a “Level 1” warning urging people to be aware of situations around them.

The 12 countries issuing “Level 2” advisories to Thailand are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the United States.

The nine nations calling higher degree of caution, “Level 3” are Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Italy, Ireland, New Zealand, Russia and the United Kingdom.

However, no country issued a travel warning that prohibits its citizens to travel to Thailand. The security and the safety of the tourists remain under the spotlight of global tourism bodies and Thailand is striving hard to remove the blemishes.
