airBaltic_logoThe Latvian airline airBaltic on October 5 welcomed Bombardier CS300 test jet in Tallinn – a key airport in the carrier’s home market.

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic: “I was very excited to be onboard the CS300 in its historic first flight to Tallinn, and delighted to share this important moment with the management team of our partner airport. It was a remarkable summer season for airBaltic in Estonia, as our routes enjoyed unprecedented demand from our customers. We are very thankful to our Estonian travellers, and, when Bombardier extended their route proving programme, we selected Tallinn as the airport of choice for the state-of- the-art jet to visit.”

With a firm order for 20 CS300 airliners – which will eventually join airBaltic’s 12 Q400 turboprops – the airline will gradually transition to an all-Bombardier fleet. The route-proving flights provide a very good indication of how the aircraft will perform in typical day-to- day airline operations by observing airfield performance, airport turnaround times and on-ground operations at various airports.

As previously reported, in April and May 2016 airBaltic for the first time in history became No. 1 airline in Estonia by passenger numbers. airBaltic has further strengthened its offering out of Tallinn by launching a direct service to Vilnius with two convenient morning and evening departures and prices starting at 29 EUR. As part of its Horizon 2021 plan, airBaltic will operate 11 direct routes out of Tallinn and Vilnius in the next five years, in combination with convenient transfers via Riga.

airBaltic serves over 60 destinations from its home base in Riga, Latvia. From every one of these locations, airBaltic offers convenient connections via Riga to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, CIS and the Middle East. In addition, airBaltic also offers new direct flights from Tallinn and Vilnius.
