Eremenko is currently heading the Group’s A3 Innovation Centre based in San Jose, California. He is an aeronautics and astronautics engineer (M.I.T.; Caltech) and worked at Google, Motorola and DARPA, the Pentagon’s research agency. He will assume his new role on 1 July 2016.

“We are operating in a fast-changing environment where speed, data, breakthrough technologies and connectivity are hugely relevant trends for the future of the aerospace industry,” said Tom Enders, Chief Executive Officer of Airbus Group. “Paul Eremenko, who leads our Innovation Centre in San Jose, has over the last year demonstrated a unique ability to stimulate through key projects the cross fertilisation between the Silicon Valley and our Group Research & Technology and innovation cultures. He has all the right credentials – in high-tech and industry – to lead Airbus technologies into the future.”

In his new capacity, Paul Eremenko is joined by Andy Anderson (58), who since the departure of the previous CTO Jean Botti (58) end of March was serving as acting CTO. As of 1 July 2016, Anderson, a 20-year veteran of Airbus Group, will resume his previous role as Chief Operating Officer for the CTO organisation and serve as Deputy to Paul Eremenko.

Both Eremenko and Anderson will be first focussing on the new set-up of the CTO function, working with the Divisions and the recently appointed Digital Transformation Officer (DTO) Marc Fontaine.
