Alaska Airlines to Launch Service between Silicon Valley’s Airport and Salt Lake City in June 2014

Alaska-Airlines-300x133Alaska Airlines announced today plans to begin service between Mineta San José International Airport (SJC) and Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) effective June 12, 2014. Alaska will offer one daily nonstop flight using Boeing 737 aircraft in response to increased demand for this service from Silicon Valley travelers.

“Travelers will be pleased that Alaska Airlines, Silicon Valley Airport’s second largest carrier, will serve Salt Lake Citybeginning in June 2014. This is an in demand destination in itself, and also a popular connecting point for international destinations,” said Director of Aviation Kim Becker Aguirre. “It is particular gratifying to me that our ongoing communications with Alaska Airlines representatives about service expansion at SJC are proving fruitful.”

“Salt Lake City has long been a top requested market by our customers and we are pleased to add to our successfulSeattle-Salt Lake City flights with additional service from four other West Coast gateways,” said Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing. “This new service connects travelers with Alaska’s strong network on the West Coast. In addition, our customers will enjoy double miles that apply toward elite status in our award-winning Mileage Plan program.”

Alaska will offer sale fares on the new SJC-SLC flights beginning Tuesday, Dec. 10. Flight times and start dates are listed below:

Alaska Airlines currently serves 11 markets with nonstop flights from SJC – Boise, Los Angeles, Portland, Reno, Seattle, four Hawaiian Islands (Honolulu, Kona, Lihue and Maui) and two popular Mexico destinations (Cabo San Lucas and Guadalajara) – with 130 weekly flights. The carrier operates from SJC’s Terminal B.

Delta Air Lines also offers nonstop service between SJC and Salt Lake City.
