Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, a leading developer and operator of luxury hotels, resorts and spas, in Asia, the Indian Ocean and the Middle East, is pleased to announce two new General Manager appointments in resorts in Thailand and Vietnam.

Patrick Both has been appointed General Manager of Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa. He moves from his most recent position as General Manager at Anantara Mui Ne Resort & Spa in Vietnam, bringing with him 18 years of diverse international hotelier experience.

A German national from Mainz, Patrick started his career in hospitality in 1995 working in food and beverage, also gaining valuable experience in rooms division, event sales and front office over a period of ten years whilst working for a number of hotels in Germany, England and China. In 2005 he joined Kempinski in Beijing as Assistant Front Office Manager, being selected for their fast track GM programme which also took him to Hainan Island as Director of Rooms for the opening of the 408-room Kempinski Resort & Spa Sanya.  After 3.5 years with Kempinski, he moved to the Netherlands taking up the role of Director of Food & Beverage for Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam.

Patrick joined Anantara in late 2009 as Cluster Resident Manager at Anantara Dhigu, Anantara Veli and Naladu Resort in the Maldives. He was promoted to his first General Manager position 18 months later, moving to his most recent position at Anantara Mui Ne in Vietnam.

As part of a strategic direct GM swap, Mark Eletr moves to Anantara Mui Ne Resort & Spa in Vietnam as General Manager, from Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa, where he held the position of General Manager for two years.

Mark, who is Australian, trained in civil engineering and started his career in this industry in his hometown of Sydney, before moving into hospitality in 1996. Staying in Australia and starting in food and beverage, Mark worked his way up the ladder in F&B operations and management, before joining Green Island Resort in Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, as Assistant Resort Manager, where he stayed for three years. After a brief stint on the seas with Carnival Cruises, Mark then moved back to Great Barrier Reef joining Lizard Island Resort, part of Voyages Hotels & Resorts, for two years, firstly as Assistant General Manager, before being promoted to General Manager. Staying with Voyages Mark then moved to Bedarra Island Resort, another five star luxury island resort in Great Barrier Reef, where he stayed for three years before joining Anantara in Koh Phangan in Thailand.

Both Mark and Patrick joined their previous resorts at the time when Minor Hotel Group, Anantara’s owning company, took over the management contracts for those properties. They each guided their respective resorts and teams through the rebranding period to become part of the luxury Anantara portfolio in late 2011 and have each subsequently led the resorts to become successful, gaining both international awards and recognition.
