As the official airline of the Austrian team at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, Austrian Airlines is cooperating with its partner Vienna Airport to transport the extensive range of sports equipment and valuable sports devices needed by the country’s Olympic competitors. The domestic airline is carrying more than 200m³ or 39 tons of material to the Olympic Games in Russia and back on a total of 15 non-stop flights. This includes around 300 pairs of skis and approximately 8 tons of skiing equipment.
Austrian Airlines is continuing its tried and tested partnership with the Austrian Olympic Comité (ÖOC in German) which now goes back 21 years. Since 1992, the domestic airline has served as the sponsor and partner of the Austrian Olympic Comité for both the Winter and Summer Olympic Games, and has safely and reliably flown Austria’s top athletes to Olympic destinations such Albertville, Lillehammer, Barcelona, Sydney and Salt Lake City.
