The Destination Bristol team is at EIBTM in Barcelona alongside Visit England to encourage visits to Bristol – the street art capital of the UK and the city that inspired Banksy’s creativity – where people can see original Banksy paintings and have a go at creating their own. A brand new street art tour and graffiti workshop package has launched for groups this autumn. It includes a one-hour guided tour around some of Bristol’s finest street artworks, followed by a hands-on graffiti workshop led by a local artist underneath ‘Mild, mild west’ one of Banksy’s most iconic paintings deep in the heart of Bristol’s creative community The package has been devised by ‘Where the Wall’, whose popular street art tours have become a mainstay of Bristol. Shelley Bishop, Destination Bristol’s Conference Manager, said “Bristol has a reputation for encouraging creativity, imagination and freedom. It’s a city that has inspired Banksy, along with countless other street artists, and our creative credentials have led to us being chosen as the host city for the Arts Marketing Association’s annual conference in 2014. “The new street art tours and workshops are something unique to Bristol and we’re delighted that some of the creative talents at the forefront of the art scene here will now be offering their knowledge and skills to groups from all over the World.” As well as being at the forefront of the street art scene, Bristol is an international leader in green living and sustainability and has been announced as European Green Capital 2015. It also has an established reputation for successfully hosting large meetings and international conferences, including the tenth World Congress on Neurohypophysial Hormones at St George’s Hall, Bristol. In addition to many recognisable hotel brands such as Hilton, Marriott, Mercure and Hotel du Vin, Bristol has a wide selection of hotels that are independently owned or from smaller chains. The city also benefits from a range of unique venues including historic ship Brunel’s ss Great Britain, At-Bristol science centre, which has more than 300 hands-on exhibits, and Bristol Zoo Gardens. Just 90 minutes from London by train, and with direct flights from many European cities into Bristol International Airport, Bristol offers all the attractions of a major, modern European city, yet remains easy to walk around meaning that meetings, dinners, events and accommodation are all within easy reach of each other, as well as centres of entertainment, shops, bars and restaurants.
