birFour Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti has announced Bir Kumar Yadav as its new Executive Sous Chef. Swapping the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean for the greens of the Serengeti, Chef Yadav joins the luxury safari lodge from Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru, where he has spent the last four years overseeing the Resort’s restaurants and working on board Four Seasons Explorer.

Originating from the spiritually famous region of Varanasi in the north of India, Chef Yadav spent much of his younger life in Mumbai, where he began working in some of the city’s biggest five star hotels. In 2008, Chef Yadav first joined Four Seasons as a chef in the main kitchen at Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai.

“It is an incredible opportunity to have the chance to work in the Serengeti, surrounded by such spectacular wildlife,” says Chef Yadav. “I am looking forward to combining my passion for food with a discovery of a new culture and the local traditions of Tanzania.”

Further to the travels he has enjoyed on his career so far, Chef Yadav will now discover the adventure of life in the heart of the Serengeti National Park, where he will help to oversee the Lodge’s three restaurants: Maji Bar and Terrace, which overlooks the active animal watering hole; Boma Grill, which is designed like a traditional Maasai house; and Kula’s Restaurant for views out to the Serengeti Plains.
