Local tourism sectors are being encouraged to participate in the award as this is a good way of recognising the hard work of their staff, raising their business and perhaps winning the chance to represent Bristol in the VisitEngland Awards in 2014.
Two Bristol venues – At-Bristol Science Centre and Fern Cottage Bed and Breakfast in Pucklechurch – received highly commended awards in last year’s VisitEngland event after winning the Sustainable Tourism Award and Guest House/B&B Award at the Bristol event.
Kathryn Davis, Destination Bristol’s Head of Tourism, said that Bristol has so many first-rate places to stay, visit, eat and drink, and our annual Tourism and Hospitality Awards are the only time we come together and celebrate their achievements, so it’s a special opportunity.
The most exceptional venues are a reflection of the exceptional individuals behind them; those people who give great service and go beyond the normal requirements of the job because they care about the experience that each visitor has. This is a chance to recognise those characters and thank them for their roles in making Bristol such a special place to visit.
There are seventeen categories open for entries including Pub of the Year, Tourism Event of the Year, Large and Small Hotels of the Year and several customer service awards for individuals and teams. Entries can be submitted online at the visitbristol website awards and close on Friday 10 January, 2014, a small number of sponsorship opportunities remain and details can also be found on the website.
Finalists will attend a dinner and awards ceremony at Bristol Marriott City Centre hotel on Monday 17 February, 2014 where the winners will be announced and prizes presented.
