Chester Bridge Replacement To Provide More Reliable Railway For Passengers

networkrail-placeholder-300x188The new structure will replace the existing bridge on Brook Lane and is part of the nationwide Railway Upgrade Plan to provide a better, more reliable railway.

During the bridge work, local road traffic will be affected but clearly-signed diversions, agreed with the local authority, will be in place.

Martin Bell from Network Rail said: “This work is part of our Railway Upgrade Plan which will provide a better and more reliable railway for Britain. We recognise the work to install this new bridge will cause some disruption and thank people in advance for their patience. The bridge is coming to the end of its useful, safe life and to ensure the railway and road bridge continue to be safe and reliable, we have to replace it.”

 
The work to replace the bridge will be carried out between Monday, 12 September 2016 and Friday, 9 June 2017 during the following times:

8am-4pm Monday-Friday
Overnight on Friday and Saturday nights.
There will also be 24 hour working carried out over three periods in early 2017. These are:
Saturday 14-Monday 16 January
Friday 20-Monday 23 January
Saturday 4-Monday 6 February
