Professional setup sets new standards
Under the concept ‘Ride Like a Pro’, the Danish qualifier event set new standards for bike races in Denmark with blocked off roads, a very high level of service, mechanics etc. The riders had the unique chance to ride like a professional for a day.
The event in Denmark included a highly anticipated time trial in Hamlet’s hometown of Elsinore, where over 700 riders took on the 26.5 km scenic tour in the beautiful surroundings north of Copenhagen making it the largest time trial in the world.
1,000 cyclists got the professional road race setup on Sunday, where sun, rain and wind along with two grave sections made the 145 km a challenging ride in Copenhagen and the northern part of Sealand.
“We are very proud of this award because our goal was to give all cycling enthusiasts an opportunity to ride like the professionals with blocked off roads and a very high level of service and we managed to set new standards for how professionally you can organize cycling for all races in Denmark,” race director Thomas Veje Olsen says.
The big cycling event in Denmark was partnered by Wonderful Copenhagen, Sport Event Denmark, the Danish Cycling Federation and in close cooperation with 11 municipalities.
“The success with Copenhagen Gran Fondo confirm the potential in this great event. It is a big pleasure to welcome so many people from all over the world to Copenhagen and give them an unforgettable experience with a professional cycling race setup through our charming capital and region,” says Lars Vallentin, Director of Sport Events in Wonderful Copenhagen.
