Carlson-300x102Country Inns & Suites By CarlsonSM today unveiled the first hotel of the brand’s more than 470 locations to feature its newest design. Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Springfield, IL includes the brand’s new exterior architecture, modern interiors, comfortable yet stylish furnishings, and spacious guest rooms and suites that feature spa-like bathrooms.

“We are looking to the future and are making thoughtful changes that will allow us to grow our brand,” said Scott Meyer, senior vice president, Midscale Brands, Americas, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. “It’s a natural next step to evolve into a product that appeals to a younger generation. But we will be fiercely maintaining our service culture and amenities that have built our strong, loyal customer base.”
The hotel’s clean, contemporary look and feel combines warmth and comfort with iconic elements for which Country Inns & Suites are known for like the lobby fireplace. The new design will allow the brand to resonate with loyal guests, as well as today’s younger, technology-focused business travelers.

“We could not be more excited to launch the newest generation of our brand in Springfield,” said Meyer. “While the brand has seen consistent upgrades and regular renovation cycles, this is the first time in its 26-year history that it has been completely redesigned to include a new architecture and interior aesthetic.”

The hotel’s unique design features include stone and wood wall accents that accompany a fireplace and soft sofa seating, lounge chairs and occasional tables. The Den, located just off the lobby offers a comfortable space where guests can relax and enjoy a book from the brand’s signature Read It & Return Lending LibrarySM. The Den also includes the hotel’s business center.

The hotel serves the brand’s complimentary, hot Be Our Guest breakfast in a modern and inviting setting that is designed to mimic the hub of a house offering guests space to dine for breakfast, as well as socialize and work throughout the day.
The hotel, which opened in November 2013, offers 78 guest rooms and suites that feature spa-like bathrooms with contemporary materials, deep basins and plush towels. Statement furnishings like oversized headboards and an eclectic color palette make guest room decor unique to the upper midscale hotel segment. The hotel also features a fitness center, indoor swimming pool as well as an outdoor veranda.

The hotel is owned by Springfield Lodging LLC and was a joint venture between Sand Lodging Inc. and the Swift Hospitality Group Inc. Sand Construction of Waite Park, Minn. provided the construction services, architectural services and procurement. Swift Hospitality of Freeport, Ill provided development services and will manage the hotel.
