Cuba to usher in the New Year with dance and music

download-229As in every new year, Cuba will receive 2014 with music, and with that aim there are proposals to raise the spirit and shake the body.

The Cuban Music Institute released its list of options to close the year, ranging from the symphonic music to trova and dance music, with a giant rumba and salsa groups in various places.

To start, Adalberto Álvarez will present his record Respeto pá los Mayores (Respect for the Elder) at the Salón Rosado in La Tropical, space that usually hosts also pop and rock stars.

The album with tribute to great musicians and singers like Arsenio Rodríguez, invites to reflection and is another element in the national campaign to rescue certain civic values.

Singer songwriter Pablo Milanes will present his record Renaissance with two concerts this weekend, and Augusto Enriquez will close a long tour with the National Symphony Orchestra.

On Sunday, more than 100 concert bands will perform in unison throughout Cuba, and troubadour Vicente Feliu will perform a recital with the suggestive title of “Con-ciertos amigos.”

On Dec 30 rumba singers will meet at a concert with Los Papines, Addaché, Rumba Timba and the mythical dance group Guaracheros de Regla.

From Jan 1, in the main squares of each Cuban province will perform dance music groups, so they start a 2014 right up.
