Delta flight survives mid-flight mishap

Delta (1)Frequent fliers facing turbulence while flying is a rather common sight. However, passengers aboard Delta Air Lines Flight 762 from Atlanta to Chicago got a some more than sloshed drinks when the cabin lights were switched on at 28,000 feet Sunday afternoon.

Passengers sitting by the window got quite a view: The piece covering the plane’s right engine — or cowling, as it’s called — had come off.

The pilot declared an emergency, and the plane landed safely in Nashville.

Delta said it’s been in touch with passengers with “a gesture of apology.” And it’s investigating exactly what went wrong.

The 109 passengers aboard the Boeing 717 aircraft walked out of the plane unhurt, but with a very interesting tale to tell their folks.
