Under a stunning picture of thousands of seabirds coming in to roost the Hong Kong papers write: ” Sky Birds, birds go where the nest is. Imran observe the ecology, sea bird colonies at Bird Island Seychelles.

Bird Island is one of the privately owned and managed island where nature and the environment co-exists with a tourism development in the form of an eco-lodge. The island is owned and managed by Guy Savy and he has over the years successfully managed his lodge whilst preserving the ecology of the island and the millions of sea birds who return year after year in greater numbers to lay their eggs and rear their chicks.

Seychelles is known to be advocating the eco-tourism concept with its Ministry of Tourism and Culture pushing forward the Sustainable Label concept for their island hotels and resorts. The islands have many nature parks and islands but Bird Island remains the only such nature park of ‘exceptional beauty’ managing successfully to make a money business with an eco-lodge as they protect their island natural habitat.

“They have become an example to follow. They have million of sea birds returning year after year to roost on the island. They manage a very successful program where sea turtles come up their lovely white sandy beaches to lay their eggs year after year and at the same time they rum and environmentally friendly home grown hotel ” said Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture.

Managing business and protecting the environment at the same time is seen by many as a real challenge, but Guy Savy and his Bird island has been able to set a working model.

Imran Ahmad, the Nikon Photographer recently worked with the Seychelles Tourism Board and published a coffee table book on the underwater world of Seychelles entitled “Seychelles, Unexpected Treasures” . Exclusive photographs of Imran Ahmad were used in this book published by Alain St.Ange and Glynn Burridge of the Seychelles.
