Whether you’re urban or suburban, celebrate Family Day in Toronto, from Friday, February 15 to Monday, February 18, 2013, with an array of attractions and special events throughout the city.

Guests can also take advantage of Tourism Toronto’s popular Attractions & Events Packages, which includes hotel accommodations; tickets to the Royal Ontario Museum, Hockey Hall of Fame, Art Gallery of Ontario, Segway Tours, Toronto Zoo, Casa Loma, Ontario Science Centre, and more.

ATTRACTIONS 

Visit the TIFF Bell Lightbox for an assortment of FREE activities such as movies, arts and crafts, filmmaking and magic!  Come watch the screening of Reel Rascals: Animal Mania followed by behind the scenes secrets of green screen technology, and become enchanted by magicians.  Finish off your day by learning how to become your very own buttonographer.

The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) will celebrate Family Day by transforming for one special day into the Kids Gallery of Ontario (KGO). On Monday, February 18, the Gallery will offer a family-friendly art-making extravaganza featuring the creation of a day-long exhibition by kids entitled Kid Nouveau. The iconic red AGO on the building’s exterior will be creatively reworked to reflect its temporary name change, “KGO.” Kids attending the event (included in the price of admission) will be encouraged to channel their inner artists through activities co-programmed with Bunch Family Inc.

Celebrate Family Day all weekend long at the Ontario Science Centre with special programming and new exhibits. Be the first to try a new exhibit: the Science Centre’s designers and fabricators have developed prototypes of two Winter Olympic Sport experiences: Curling (using humans as rocks!) and Biathlon. Watch the Stouffville Steppers, a performance jump rope team representing the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Jump Rope for Heart program.

Explore the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) on February 16-18 for dazzling colour and vibrant displays welcoming kids and adults this Family Day Weekend! Make your own Carnival mask and visit the special exhibition Carnival: From Emancipation to Celebration. Plus, touch tables, stories and scavenger hunts help tell the stories and history of Carnival traditions from around the world. Program will run 11 am – 4 pm at regular admission.

Visit animal families during the Family Day weekend at the Toronto Zoo as they feature families such as the Western lowland gorillas, orangutans, Komodo dragons, and green tree pythons just to name a few. Open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, there’s no better way to spend quality time with the family than to visitthese furry friends at the Zoo.
