Fans and Families “Escape to the Wyndham” at the 75th Anniversary Wyndham Championship

The annual golf tournament is the final stop of the PGA TOUR’s FedEx Cup regular schedule.

 

Held annually at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., the Wyndham Championship is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Attracting more than 80,000 spectators each year, The Wyndham, as it has come to be known, offers a week full of championship golf, family-fun activities, prizes, as well as charitable giving to support the community. For many fans, attending the tournament is their last escape of the summer, and for the PGA TOUR players, it’s the final stop before the playoffs and is seen as a “must-play” for those looking to win points before the FedEx Cup.

Vacation #AtTheWyndham
While enjoying the vacation-like atmosphere including a palm tree-lined entrance, tiki huts serving as information kiosks, vacation-themed signage and the Wyndham Beach, attendees have several opportunities to win a variety of prizes throughout the week. At the “Key to Wyn,” a specially-designed expo tent, spectators can enter a chance to win prizes ranging from Ralph Lauren golf wear to daily vacation giveaways including week-long Wyndham vacations.

 

 

Redesigned for the 75th anniversary celebration, this year’s “Key to Wyn” evokes the atmosphere of a ski resort mountain lodge, and even includes a ski and snowboard simulator for the more adventurous fans. Wyndham Worldwide offers a wide-range of vacation destinations around the world for every type of traveler, including ski resorts, beach front villas, English countryside cottages and family-friendly timeshares.
 
From there, spectators can head to Margaritaville at The Wyndham boardwalk, a complimentary hospitality hub that evokes a retreat by the shore and features live entertainment, concessions and many other family-friendly activities, including a sand sculpture.

 

Social Connections
On or off the course, it’s never been easier to stay connected with the Wyndham Championship through its social media channels, including the Wyndham Championship Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram, Foursquare, Flickr and YouTube. Fans will receive behind-the-scenes look, instant updates, fun facts and even have the opportunity to win prizes.
 
Spectators also can share their selfies with the Share YourSELFIE #AtTheWyndham campaign. Various selfie photo spots are located throughout the course to encourage attendees to take selfies and share them on their personal social media channels using the hashtag #AtTheWyndham.

 

Also new this year to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Wyndham Championship, are hashtag activated vending machines located at various locations throughout the course. Fans are encouraged to use the hashtag #AtTheWyndham to receive prizes, including upgraded tickets to the newly added Legends Club, an in-door viewing pavilion with high end food and beverage options available for purchase, access passes to the exclusive platform on the Wyndham beach, sleeves of golf balls and “Key to Wyn” cards, as well as vacation stays.

 

Spectators should keep their eyes open for the Wyndham Championship Tweet Patrol (#WyndhamChamp), who will be sharing fan photos on the Wyndham Championship Twitter and Facebook pages.
 
Good Works
Philanthropy has been a cornerstone of the Wyndham Championship since 2006, and this year is no different. “Birdies Fore Backpacks” is a new charitable initiative at the tournament. Individuals are able to pledge a donation for each birdie made during the event or they can make a flat donation on-site during the week. Additionally, fans at Sedgefield Golf Club are encouraged to support the program by volunteering their time at the Wishes by Wyndham Expo to help fill backpacks with nutritionally-sound food items.  Additional Wishes by Wyndham donation boxes are located at various spots around the tournament.
 

 
Offering something for everyone, a custom, limited-edition Lilly Pulitzer print scarf, featuring original artwork that borrows inspiration and images from experiencing a day at the beach, is available for purchase on-site in the pro shop during the week of the Wyndham Championship. Proceeds will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, which works to advance research to eradicate breast cancer.
