Thanksgiving

Proof, an American Canteen, will serve up delectable holiday offerings throughout the month of November 2016 to celebrate all things fall. Seasonal local beer on tap – including the time-honoured tradition of pumpkin flavours – will satisfy adults, while fall-inspired desserts will tempt the youngsters. On Thanksgiving, after a festive breakfast buffet for the early risers, Chef Joey Cavaretta will prepare a holiday-inspired three-course meal to include pumpkin and maple soup, a choice of traditional house-smoked turkey breast or roasted ham steak with all the fixings and a tongue-in-cheek “piecaken,” a pumpkin and pecan pie baked inside a gooey maple cake topped with cinnamon buttercream. The price for the three-course menu is USD 54 per person. Proof will offer their “Greatest Hits” menu in addition to the holiday specialties. Proof will be open for regular hours of operation on Thanksgiving, and will start the holiday dinner offerings at 4:00 pm.

Returning this year, Proof will dish up holiday Pies ‘n’ Sides. This popular holiday promotion allows guests to order all the festive snacks, sweets and side dishes and take them “to-go,” allowing more time to focus on their main dish and spend more time with friends and family and less time over a hot stove. Holiday-inspired side dishes include traditional favourites and additional Proof specialties. Pastry Chef Lance Whipple will bake mouthwatering pies and sweets to complete the holiday dinner. Each dish and dessert is prepared in oven-safe containers that can go straight from the restaurant to the oven to the dinner table. To place an order, call Food & Beverage Administrator Hilary Meyers at 480 513 5029 starting November 1, 2016 or visit Proof in person to receive a check list and place an order. Items are available for pick up November 23 to 24. Every order requires 48 hours advance notice.

Talavera will feature its annual holiday buffet on Thanksgiving. The dual level buffet offers an impressive display of festive foods including a seafood raw bar; cooked-to-order fall harvest exotic mushrooms with garlic confit and truffle butter; an interactive poke bar with albacore tuna and octopus; a carving station with sage butter-basted turkey and slow roasted prime rib; and an interactive dessert display with salted caramel affogato with pumpkin seed florentine. The dinner will run from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm, and the cost is USD 105 per person, and USD 48 for children ages 5-12. The a la carte menu will not be available. Reservations are required.
