Gatwick Airport – weather warning

Published on : Friday, December 27, 2013

gatwick-london-150x150We have additional teams of engineers, electrical staff and volunteers at the airport to minimise the risk of disruption from potential further flooding.Contingency plans have also already been put in place to minimise the risk of potential flooding following disruption earlier this week.

For passengers flying out of Gatwick tonight and tomorrow we advise that they check with their airlines before travelling and leave extra time for their journeys to the airport. Information is also available at www.gatwickairport.com and via our Twitter feed @Gatwick_Airport.

We would also like to remind and advise passengers flying out of Gatwick between now and the New year to plan their journey to and from Gatwick as a result of planned rail improvements. Train services to and from Gatwick will be impacted through to 2 January 2014 as a result of Network Rail undertaking vital improvement works on their network.

They are replacing a major rail junction near Purley, upgrading signalling at Victoria and working on a new platform at Gatwick Airport station.Replacement bus services and diversions could add up to two hours to journey times, so we’re advising passengers to plan their route carefully, check before they travel and allow extra time to get to the airport.
