Hong Kong Airlines, the internationally-acclaimed full-service airline, celebrated its inaugural daily direct service HX 6682 to Okayama, Japan yesterday (28 March 2016). The new service allows Hong Kong Airlines to be the first and only carrier between Hong Kong and Okayama, further strengthening the airline’s network in Japan.
To mark the official launch of this new route, Hong Kong Airlines held celebrations at Hong Kong International Airport and Okayama International Airport.
Passengers taking the inaugural flight expressed their excitement about the journey ahead, they were presented with a specially designed inaugural certificate and souvenir as a gratitude to their support to Okayama service prior to the flight. Upon touching down at the destination, all passengers and flight crew received a warm welcome from Okayama Prefecture and airport representatives.
Mr Ben Wong, Chief Operating Officer of Hong Kong Airlines, said, “We are delighted as the new Okayama route, our first Japanese route launched in 2016, has received overwhelming response from passengers. This inaugural flight demarcated Hong Kong Airlines as the first and the only carrier for direct flights between Hong Kong and Okayama. Our daily flight not only offers Hong Kong passengers, but also our Okayama travellers a more diverse option for business and leisure travel. We have great confidence in this route and we strongly believe in this valuable win-win cooperation. From today onwards, we hope to bring travellers from over the world to this wonderful historical & cultural region.”
The Okayama daily service is the sixth destination adding to Hong Kong Airlines current Japan network. Complemented by the two daily flights to Okinawa, five-time weekly service to Sapporo, thrice-weekly service to Kagoshima, twice-weekly flights to Miyazaki and Kumamoto, Hong Kong Airlines now operates a total of 33 weekly flights between Hong Kong and Japan, further strengthening its route network.
