Whampoa visited airport facilities and boarded a Hong Kong Airlines’ aircraft to learn more about the aviation industry.

As an acclaimed full-service airline rooted in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Airlines is committed to caring for the community. The company has organized a wide variety of activities in the past, offering people from all walks of life exposure to the aviation industry. As one of the major aviation education programmes of Hong Kong Airlines, “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme has already brought unique flight visit experience to more than 400 local students from different schools and backgrounds. Under the guidance of Hong Kong Airlines flight crew members, students could gain first-hand experience about the operation of aircraft, exposure to the aviation industry and thus prepare better to realize their flying dreams in the future.

Mr. Zhang Kui, President of Hong Kong Airlines said, “Hong Kong Airlines believes that all young people have unlimited potential. If we can inspire them in their childhood, they may be guided to a brighter future. Thus we have been actively hosting different aviation education activities, offering kids from different background opportunities to visit real aircraft, simulating their interest through interaction with our flight crew with the goal of nurturing aviation talents.”

The aviation experience tour debuted with a visit to Hong Kong Airlines’ check-in counters at the Hong Kong International Airport, learning about the daily operations of ground services. The students were then taken onboard a Hong Kong Airlines A330 aircraft. Captain and cabin crew of Hong Kong Airlines shared their aviation knowledge and flight experiences with the students, teaching them the daily job duties of flight crew members. Students also learned the structure of cockpit and cabin, experienced Business Class facilities and tried on life jackets. Some students even got dressed as captain and flight attendants, and performed inflight duties like making passenger announcement and distributing inflight meal.

Mr. Gregory Wong and Ms. Catherine Chau said after the event, “We are glad to be the captain and senior purser of this special flight, learning more about aviation industry with students. They were all very passionate about flying and brought their talents into full play in the role-play games. It’s a great time being served by ‘little pilots’ and ‘little flight attendants’. Hope they will play a significant role in the industry in the coming future.”

Hong Kong Airlines will continue to hold the “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme, open to schools and NGOs, for more youngsters to gain exposure to the aviation industry.
