House of Music – brilliant new meeting venue in the making

House-of-Music-300x168Located straight on the waterfront in Aalborg and with panoramic views of the salty Limfjord you will soon find a brand new venue; Musikkens Hus (House of Music) – a future musical gathering point in northern Denmark and an architectural gem, designed by the internationally renowned architectural firm Coop Himmelb(l)au. Additionally, the House of Music will be a new, perfect venue for meetings, conferences and receptions taking place in the city of Aalborg.

Musikkens Hus will on March 29, 2014 with a wide array of events, and will be used primarily for classical concerts and other music events, but also for staging meetings and conferences. The venue has more than 20,000m2 at its disposal, including four concert halls (with a capacity of up to 1,293 seats), a new restaurant overlooking the magnificent Limfjord, and an attractive foyer with both educational and administrative facilities.

The Concert Hall is the heart of Musikkens Hus (House of Music) and seats 1,293. The hall is acoustically optimized by the acknowledged firm Artec, and especially its white walls with iconic shapes to improve the sound experience and the beautiful red chairs are set to create an exceptional atmosphere that everyone ought to experience.

Besides the Concert Hall, Musikkens Hus offers the Minor Hall (seats 300 people), the Classical Hall (seats 200 people), and the Rhythmical Hall (seats 200 people). The Foyer area can handle up to 2,150 guests, built on three levels, and provides its visitors with one of Aalborg’s best views over the scenic Fjord.

Musikkens Hus offers a cosy restaurant, café and brasserie, Musikkens Spisehus, that strives to create tasty dishes with sustainable and local ingredients and design a menu that fits the present season.

The permanent residents of Musikkens Hus in Aalborg will be the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Academy of Music Aalborg, Aalborg University’s music programmes, the Center for Danish Jazz History and Restaurant Musikkens Spisehus.
