lg_indigo_emeaInterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak in Indonesia with PT Bali Perkasa Sukses – a subsidiary of PT Agung Podomoro Land Tbk (APLN), one of the largest real estate developers in Indonesia. The 280-key design led resort will be the first for the brand on the popular holiday island of Bali, featuring both rooms as well as villas.

Expected to open in 2015, Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak is located in the heart of the island’s colourful Seminyak district. The resort is well placed along one of Bali’s popular beachfronts, famous for its spectacular waves, vibrant nightlife and breathtaking sunsets. Guests can enjoy the hotel’s spa facilities for a relaxing holiday, or take a walk out to visit some of Seminyak’s stylish fashion boutiques, art shops and casual chic restaurants such as Ku De Ta and Potato Head just minutes away.

Trihatma Kusuma Haliman, President and Chief Executive of APLN said: “Our development site is one of the last remaining sizeable beachfront pieces of land in the popular Seminyak district. Choosing the right partner to bring this property to life is critical to its future success. IHG with the Hotel Indigo brand was the perfect fit.”

Bali continues to draw travellers from all over the world with 2.9 million overseas visitors recorded in 2012, a 4.3% increase from the previous year.

Clarence Tan, COO South East Asia and Resorts, IHG said: “The popularity of Bali amongst domestic and overseas visitors as well as the airport expansion makes it an ideal time to extend the IHG brand family to one of South East Asia’s most popular holiday destinations.

“Each Hotel Indigo property around the world is customised to reflect the individual style and culture of its location. The interior of Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak is specially designed to stay rooted to the local Balinese culture and also brings to life the uniqueness of the Seminyak district in elements of design and service. Guests can always expect a warm welcome and reliable service from our staff, with the standard and consistency guaranteed by a global hotel company.”

Hotel Indigo, the world’s first globally branded design led hotel brand, is new to South East Asia. With just over 50 hotels globally, the Hotel Indigo brand will make its debut in the region with the Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road which is due to open in 2014.

Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak will join two existing IHG hotels in Bali, InterContinental Bali and Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali. Indonesia has IHG’s largest development pipeline in South East Asia with over 20 hotels (c. 5,000 rooms) under its brands including InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.
