Minister-of-tourism-SeychellesMinister Sylvia Masebo, the Minister for Tourism of Zambia and Ms Phindile Ngcobo from the KwaZulu Natal Tourism of South Africa met last week with Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture to discuss their delegations to the 25th April carnival that is staged annually in these mid-ocean islands.

This year more countries from the region than ever before are coming out to fly their flag and to showcase their culture and in so doing their people in the promotion of their respective countries tourism industry.

This 2014 edition of the carnival will see Zambia for the second year running bring out their cultural group, but in recognition of the importance of the event Minister Sylvia Masebo will be leading the Zambian delegation herself. Zambia and Seychelles signed an MOU to cooperate in the field of tourism and the Minister’s visit will also be the opportunity for her to hold a follow-up meeting with her Seychelles counterpart and initiate concrete cooperation missions.

South Africa on its part is from this year a co-host with the Seychelles of the Carnaval International de Victoria alongside the Vanilla Islands of La Reunion, Madagascar and Mayotte. Ms Phindile Ngcobo of KwaZula Natal Tourism is expected to have a delegation in Seychelles soon to fine tune South Africa’s presence in the carnival now known and the ‘Carnival of Carnivals” because it remains the only synch event that brings together all the best and most popular carnivals of the world in a parade followed by cultural troupes from the Community of Nations.
