Italian Couple Found Lifeless in Hotel Room in Nepal

Chiheb Esseghaier,Police reported that Italian couple man and the woman, aged 53 and 48, visiting Nepal was found dead in their hotel room in the capital Kathmandu on Christmas Eve in mysterious circumstances. Autopsies would be conducted on the pair to establish the cause of death, while the Italian consulate had been informed.

An officer said that police were investigating after being called to the hotel, when couple did not come out from their room all day on Tuesday. The couple arrived in Nepal on December 11 and had told the hotel owner that they visited the Himalayan nation every year.

More than 500,000 visitors visit Nepal every year and tourism is a major contributor to the economy. However, Two Chinese tourists died in their hotel room earlier this month, from gas poisoning caused by a malfunctioning heater, in the tourist town of Nagarkot outside Kathmandu.
