JAL Group Traffic Results for 2014 Summer Vacation Period

The JAL Group today announced passenger traffic results for the Japanese summer vacation period that spanned from August 08 to August 17, 2014. The JAL Group carried a total of 273,396passengers on its international flights during the 10-day stretch, and a total of 1,047,766 passengers domestically.

With 2.5% more seats offered on international routes this year, the number of passengers carried by JAL to and from overseas rose 1.4%, leading to the seat load factor of 89.6% for international. By region, with the expansion of JAL SKY SUITE service, the load factor in Business Class was higher to Europe and North America at over 95.0%, which thus contributed to the result of overall load factor on international routes. JAL also operated a total of 22chartered flights to destinations in Hawaii, Palau, Cebu and Europe, six extra flights to Hawaii during this peak season.

Domestically, some flights had to be canceled between August 8 and August 10, 2014 due to the impact of Typhoon No. 11, resulting to the number of passengers decreased 4.6% in comparison to the same period last year. By region, the load factor was more than 80.0% on Sapporo and Okinawa routes. As a result, the overall load factor rose by approx. 0.8 percentage point to 76.6%. JAL also operated 53 extra flights, mainly to popular destinations likeOkinawa and Sapporo during this summer vacation.
