kentuckytourism-300x116The Kentucky Department of Travel and Tourism has been awarded Outstanding Mobile Website from the Web Marketing Association (WMA) at the 17th annual WebAward Competition.

The WMA’s WebAwards are the premiere annual website competition, honoring the most effective and best websites on the Internet today. The Kentucky Department of Travel and Tourism’s mobile website was honored for its easy-to-use layout, designed to deliver the same level of travel inspiration as the full website.

“Being awarded Outstanding Mobile Website demonstrates Kentucky’s continued commitment to providing an unforgettable experience for visitors in the Bluegrass,” said Mike Mangeot, Commissioner for the Kentucky Department of Travel and Tourism. “It is vital that our information is up-to-date and easily viewable for individuals who are preparing their trips or navigating while here.” Mangeot added, “We have an excellent staff team that works daily with our Web development company, Aristotle Inc., to deliver top quality online information about Kentucky. We appreciate WMA’s acknowledgement of their efforts.”

Guests entering the Kentucky Tourism website on their phones can quickly access must-have information for their traveling needs. Listings for nearby lodging, attractions and restaurants are all accessible to visitors through their phones’ built-in GPS, allowing visitors to travel with ease. Whether it’s a tablet or phone, the site can be accessed across a wide range of devices.

“Kentucky has an abundance of opportunities for travelers seeking a unique experience, and we want to ensure that each visit is positive from beginning to end,” said Mangeot. “By providing visitors with quick access to the information they need through our mobile website, we can make sure their journey through our state is a memorable one.”

WMA WebAward entries are reviewed by a panel of judges who name the best Web sites in 96 industries, setting the standard of excellence in website development. For the 2013 awards, mobile sites were entered into a separate competition to recognize growth and creativity in the space.
