KiwiRail has taken the precaution of halting all trains on the rail network in the lower North island following this afternoon’s earthquake near Eketahuna while track inspections are undertaken to check for any damage to the rail network.
Tranz Metro is urging customers to check the information before they travel at www.tranzmetro.co.nz
The Overlander is at Marton and KiwiRail will be keeping passengers updated on the situation.
Interislander ferry services are unaffected by this event.
