KiwiRail’s Chief Executive, Peter Reidy has announced the appointment of Dr Bob Stacy as the new General Manager, Zero Harm.
Mr Reidy says the appointment reflects a changing health and safety risk environment in New Zealand and high performance in safety will be an indicator of successful leadership.
“Businesses with world class safety and health performance outcomes also deliver positive and robust financial, operational and cultural outcomes for all stakeholders,” he said.
Dr Stacy has extensive senior safety and health leadership experience in fatal risk industries in Australia including BHP Engineering, BHP Transport, CSR, Downer Group and General Electric.
His business experience across the BHP Group covered shipping, mining, rail and road operations and he was responsible for implementing a safety change programme that reduced the frequency of lost time injuries from 27.6 per million man hours to 0.7 per million man hours in six years.

Dr Stacy holds a PhD in Organisational Development from the University of Ballarat (Faculty of Engineering) with a focus on managing safety performance improvements, a MSc in Human Systems design and a BSc in Physiology from the University of New England NSW Australia.
