Lake Geneva set to launch a new mobile app guide

lake-geneva-app-291x300The Lake Geneva Region Tourist Office is going to launch a new mobile app for iOS and Android smartphones, acting as an interactive guide. The app, known as Vaud:Guide, is free available in three languages- French, German and English and can be easily downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.

The app offers an array of facilities to the users, such as customised and personal recommendations, answers to users’ questions, taking into account the environmental elements,

 

map of Lake Geneva and the region where the travellers can locate their points of interests and this map can also display in an “augmented reality” mode, allowing the users to view local sites virtually.

 

Furthermore, the Lake Geneva app notifies the users when they approach a ‘point of interest’ that they might be interested in. The app currently comes with six set of itineraries, taking the tourists on a tour of the main sites of the region. The fixed itineraries are also marked with points of interest, starting point and the arrival points on the map. A calendar of events and an on-line reservation system are also accessible.
 

While not in use, the app can be turned ‘offline’ as well, helping the user avoid roaming costs.
