Registration for the Bupa Challenge Tour and Bupa mini tour for kids closes tomorrow at 5.00 pm.
Tourism Minister Leon Bignell said the same deadline applied for Legends’ Night Dinner ticket bookings.
“The Santos Tour Down Under is nearly here, and there are tens of thousands of fans looking forward to the first day of racing on Sunday,” he said.
“This event is known and loved for bringing people right up close to the action, and what better way to join the fun than by sharing the same road as the professionals?”
The 2014 Bupa Challenge Tour will take place between Unley and Victor Harbor on Friday 24 January.
Riders can choose between four distance options, from the shortest leg of 33 km, to the full journey of 154.5 km. Many participants will again be raising money for Cancer Council SA by riding for a reason.
Minister Bignell says this year’s Legends’ Night Dinner will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre and will honour three of the biggest names in world cycling: Sir Chris Hoy, Cadel Evans and Jens Voigt.
“Sir Chris Hoy is an 11-time world champion and six-time Olympic gold medallist whose success led to the growth of cycling across Britain,” he said.
“Cadel Evans secured his place in cycling history when he became the first Australian to win the Tour de France, and Jens Voigt is one of the most popular – and tenacious – riders in the peloton.
“The Legends’ Night Dinner is your chance to hear their stories first-hand and to discover what it takes to make it to the top, and to stay there.”
The Bupa mini tour for kids will be held on Australia Day on the start/finish straight of the Be Safe Be Seen MAC Stage 6 circuit. Children aged between six and 12 can enter and are also able to take part on a range of kids’ activities around the course.
The Santos Tour Down Under will be held in Adelaide and regional South Australia from 19-26 January 2014.
