Qantas Entertainment uses a ‘tv ratings’ style system that provides anonymous feedback on customer viewing habits. These statistics, which are gathered on a daily basis from both international and domestic flights, are used by Qantas programmers to deliver an onboard entertainment experience designed to satisfy a range of different customer tastes in film, television and music.

Qantas Head of Digital and Entertainment, Joanna Boundy, said the ratings system offers invaluable customer insights by revealing what’s the most entertaining onboard.
“The ability of our in-flight entertainment systems to report back what people are watching and listening to most, helps us to tailor our entertainment experience,” said Ms Boundy.

“On average customers spend about 80 per cent of a long haul flight watching movies, TV programs and listening to music, so it’s absolutely essential we provide content that they’re going to enjoy.

“We know new release films and comedy are favourites with our customers, so continually refreshing the content makes sense.”
All Qantas A380, B747, A330 and selected B737-800 aircraft are fitted with on demand entertainment systems that offer digital picture and sound quality, plus a broad selection of movies, television programs, destination guides, music albums, radio channels and interactive games.

A380 and reconfigured B747 customers can experience our on-demand inflight entertainment from the moment they step onboard the aircraft – with over 1500 entertainment options including up to 100 movies, over 500 television programs, 1000 CDs, a selection of audio books, 20 radio channels and 80 games. Customers also have access to Qantas’ exclusive Lonely Planet interactive destination guides and dedicated Kids Zone.
