The Lummi Island Ferry, the Whatcom Chief, will begin accepting credit cards for onboard sales on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. Following are important details and information about this new payment option:
All major credit cards with logo will be accepted, except American Express.
Debit cards will be accepted as long as they have a major credit card logo. They will be processed as a credit card and your PIN will not be needed.
Credit cards will be accepted for both single ride fares and mulit-ride punch cards.
No credit card convenience fee will be collected for single ride fare sales at this time.
The current credit card convenience fee of 2.35% will be collected on all mulit-ride punch card sales. As a reminder, Whatcom County does not receive any part of the convenience fees.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we implement this new payment option onboard the Whatcom Chief.
