Minister Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth, the Minister responsible for Culture and Sports from Sweden and Minister Alain St.Ange, the Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture from the Seychelles used the opportunity of the events marking UMEA as the Culture Capital of Europe for them to meet and exchange ideas on the development of Culture.
Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles used the opportunity of the meeting to brief the Minister from Sweden on his discussions with re
gards to having a SAMI Indigenous Group from Sweden fly the Swedish Flag and the SAMI Flag at the coming April Carnival in the Seychelles. He explained that discussion were underway with the Swedish Arts Council to try and make this proposition a reality.
The Seychelles Minister has also congratulated his counterpart from Sweden on the spectacular ceremony that marked UMEA’s position as the Cultural Capital of Europe for 2014. Minister Alain St.Ange said the he recognised the work and dedication of Jan Bjoringe, the CEO of the Culture Capital Programme of UMEA to have been able to not only win this title, but for staging such a spectacular event to mark that crowning of UMEA.
