The 25-year hospitality industry veteran will oversee all day-to-day operations while setting and maintaining the standards for personal customer service that the growing Mirbeau brand is famous for.

“Richard brings to his position an ideal mix of hospitality management expertise and a hometown perspective, as well as a creative approach that perfectly embodies the spirit of Mirbeau,” said John Logan, CEO of Mirbeau Hospitality Services. “We are thrilled to welcome him to the team, and look forward to his contributions to the success of Mirbeau Inn & Spa and the Mirbeau brand.”

A native of Skaneateles, Malcolm has eschewed traditional lines of growth in his career.

Over the past four years, he has devoted his energy to developing Schoolhouse Farms, a small, eco-ganic family farm operated by his wife and four children, while serving as corporate food and beverage director for Charter One Hotels and Resorts.

Before joining Charter One in 1998, Malcolm built a career managing and developing hospitality concepts in Sun Valley, Idaho, Schweitzer Mountain Resort in Sandpoint, Idaho, and Glacier Park, Mont.

His introduction to the hospitality industry began with a series of summer jobs at culinary establishments in Skaneateles’ lakeside village.

Malcolm is a graduate of The University of Arizona, where he studied business administration. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing interests in art, historic renovation, ski coaching, agriculture and food and wine.
