Moscow-Domodedovo-Airport-300x152 (1)One of the priorities of Moscow Domodedovo Airport is widening the range of services for passengers with reduced mobility: so, the air hub installed a mnemonic panel which was created for the convenience of travelers with visual impairments. It is conveniently located to the left of the information desk on the first floor of the terminal building in the center of the hall.

The mnemonic panel is a detailed plan of the airport and is created in full compliance with the requirements for information desks for visually impaired passengers. All key elements of the scheme are accompanied by Braille and outline fonts. The mnemonic panel allows people with visual impairments to feel more comfortable and helps them find what they need in the territory of the airport. The scheme has floor plans, the main areas of the airport complex (departure / arrival, check-in, luggage claim, etc.), all services and a special area for people with reduced mobility where they can get information and assistance.

Comfort and individual approach to each category of passengers are still the main service principles of Moscow Domodedovo Airport. Increasing the number of technical facilities is only a part of the Moscow Domodedovo Airport program aimed at creating comfortable conditions for this category of passengers.

The air hub has a fleet of specialized vehicles for transferring passengers with reduced mobility: State-of-the-art ambulifts make it possible to take passengers aboard any type of aircraft. Staff of the special airport service will help to pass all necessary departure and arrival procedures as quickly and comfortably as possible and will accompany passengers to aircraft and back.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the first Russian airport to introduce the induction system, which allows the acoustically challenged guests of the airport to familiarize themselves with the announcement in all areas of the passenger terminal. The induction equipment installed at Moscow Domodedovo Airport is compatible with individual hearing devices of T type (telecoil).

The air hub also commissioned the Assistance desks equipped with technical facilities for video- and audio-signaling: Using them passengers with reduced mobility can contact a dispatcher of the special airport service. The desks are conveniently located both in the territory of the landside and inside the terminal: by the entrances, at the parking lots, in the International Airlines Arrivals Area as well as in the international and domestic luggage claim areas.

To make the stay of passengers with reduced mobility comfortable at the airport, public sanitary facilities in the international and domestic airlines galleries of the terminal are equipped with special wall panels with call buttons on them with the help of which passengers can contact a dedicated airport employee to get on-the-spot assistance in case of an emergency.

In 2013, the number of passengers with disabilities traveling through Moscow Domodedovo Airport was more than 40,000 persons. And in the first half of 2014, the services of the country’s largest air hub were already provided to 21,500 travelers with disabilities.
