MTDC’s Bollywood Tourism offers a glimpse of ‘Maya Nagari’

The start-struck population of India will now have one more and quite a significant reason to visit the glamour city of Mumbai. Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation has come up with offering of packaged tours to Bollywood in association with Dadasaheb Phalke Chitra Nagri (Filmcity – Goregaon). There are three packages with different pricing to suite to the pockets which are Rs. 499, Rs 1,999 and Rs 3,250 respectively.
Dr Jagdish Patil, Managing Director, MTDC, said, “Bollywood is one of the biggest film industries in the world. People come from remote parts of India just to get a glimpse of their favorite film stars camping outside their homes and even wait for several days. With our new offering, we will take tourists not only around the residences of the stars but also on film and TV show’s sets. They can see live shooting and if lucky, spot the film stars on the sets.” Mr. Laxmikant Deshmukh, Managing Director of Film City (Goregaon) was also present during the announcement.
MTDC had floated EOI (Expression of Interest) for Bollywood Tourism inviting travel agents or proprietary firms to take up the operations and design packages for Economical low-end package, medium-end package and high-end package. Bollywood Tourism is a joint venture of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari (Filmcity-Goregaon).
MTDC has assigned two agencies to operate Bollywood Tourism project on behalf of MTDC i.e. M/s MOS Utility Pvt. Ltd for Economical package and M/s Travelmartindia.com Pvt. Ltd for Medium and High-end packages.
Economical package will cost Rs 499 per person and tourists will be taken for a three hour guided bus tour in English and Hindi to Film City (Goregaon), where they will be shown various spots in Film City along with glimpses of shooting from the bus as well overview to Film/TV Serial set, they will be shared some interesting and unknown facts about Bollywood. Medium-end package will cost Rs 1999 and the tourist will be given Bollywood on wheel experience known as Beverly Hills of Bandra. In addition to this, the tourist will be taken to film studios where a setup is created of Bollywood Gully walkthrough, Bollywood Museum, Bollywood Café, Bollywood costume gallery and Bollywood VFX Visual effects-experience. Tourists will be shown how special effects are used in Bollywood Blockbusters, tour of a television/film serial set and opportunity to witness live shoot and celebrity spotting.
High-end package comes at Rs 3250 in which besides all facilities of medium-end package additional offering is the visit to live shooting of Television soap sets in Film City.
