New Fijian Head of Tourism Office Appointed

fiji-tourismFormer Tourism Fiji’s chief executive, Josefa Tuamoto, appointed as a head the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) as its chief executive officer.

SIVB board chairman, Moses Tepai, asked the local tourism industry and the international travel trade media to give their full support behind the new CEO, as he creating and implementing the strategies to improve tourism industry to create it as the major source of foreign exchange earnings within the next 10 years.

Mr. Tepai said, “We are extremely fortunate to have someone of Jo’s calibre on board, Jo is held in very high regard on the international tourism stage, his reputation and the huge success he achieved for Fiji’s tourism precedes him.”

Mr. Tuamoto managed both CEO and director of marketing portfolios for the national tourist office in Fiji. His overseas experience with Tourism Fiji also included stints as Regional Director Australia based in Sydney and Los Angeles, United States prior to his appointment as CEO in 2008. His commercial experience includes a Director of Commercial Operations role with the iconic Fiji-based Blue Lagoon Cruises. On the marketing front, Mr. Tuamoto was the catalyst and took management responsibility for the international repositioning of Fiji tourism under the highly successful and very high profile ‘Fiji Me’ branding.

Mr. Tuamoto is a graduate with BSc and GCEd honours from the University of the South Pacific, and holds an MBA from the University of Wales and has completed management studies at Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School and the University of Hawaii.
