New Year Summary: Domodedovo is the Most Popular Moscow Airport

Moscow-Airport-Domodedovo-300x152During the New Year period, Moscow Domodedovo Airport once again became the most popular airport of the Moscow Aviation Hub, having served more than 1.5 million passengers.

In the New Year aviation period (from December 25, 2013 to January 12, 2014), the total passenger traffic of Moscow Domodedovo Airport amounted to 1,503 million passengers, 793.319 thousand of them departed from the airport and 710.031 thousand passengers arrived at it. It is 53.5 thousand more than last year when the total passenger traffic amounted to 1,449 million air travelers for the same period.

The number of passengers transported during just one day was at its highest level on January 04, 2014 – the passenger traffic for that day amounted to 91.2 thousand passengers.

The most popular domestic destinations during the New Year holidays were: St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Sochi, Ekaterinburg and Novosibirsk.

Among the most demanded international destinations there were: Sharm El Sheikh, Munich, Dubai, Khurgada and London.

Following the results of December 2013, the passenger traffic of Moscow Domodedovo Airport amounted to 2.06 million people. The number of flights amounted to 21 thousand airfield operations.

In December, the domestic routes passenger traffic increased to 960.87 thousand people.

International airlines passenger traffic amounted to 1.1 million.

Domodedovo cargo traffic for the first winter month makes 19,643 thousand tonnes.

Coordinated and quick work of the airport and its partner companies ensured effective operation of the air hub creating conditions for continuous take-off and landing of aircraft during the traditionally “hot” New Year season.
