43-ExhibitionsIn celebration of the 43rd year of the reign of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, Oman Air is sponsoring a major international exhibition organised by the Oman Society of Fine Arts. 43 Exhibitions in Air will see the work of 43 Omani artists displayed on seven key routes within Oman Air’s network of 43 destinations.

The flying exhibition of Omani art was launched on Thursday 19th December 2013 and saw all 43 artists gather at Oman Air headquarters in Muscat, before travelling on to the city’s Al Alam Palace for a VIP reception which marked the official launch of the creative initiative.

43 Exhibitions in Air has been hailed as the greatest event ever organised by The Omani Society for Fine Art, which is this year celebrating the 20th Anniversary of its inauguration under the guidance and patronage of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

Mohammed Al Shikely, Oman Air’s General Manager Marketing, said:

“We are pleased and proud to be sponsoring this major international art initiative, which celebrates the reign of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos by displaying outstanding Omani art aboard our flights and showcasing the richness and variety of Oman’s cultural heritage, and the beauty and colour of the Sultanate’s landscapes and wildlife.”

43 Exhibitions in Air‘s activities will run for a year and will capitalise on growing international interest in Omani art, raise awareness of Omani artists and the expanding contemporary fine art movement in the Sultanate, and celebrate the achievements of the Oman Society for Fine Art.

Mohammed Al Shikely added:

“We would like to thank the Omani Society of Fine Arts for this opportunity to share in such a major initiative and to associate the Oman Air brand with such outstanding examples of Omani cultural excellence.”

The Omani Society of Fine Arts is an organisation dedicated to nurturing the talents of Omani artists and to raising awareness, nationally and internationally, of their achievements. Oman is home to a large number of artists, many of them painters, and the Society has held numerous exhibitions and won consistently excellent reviews.

Oman Air, as the Sultanate’s national airline, has been proud to sponsor a vast range of cultural, educational and sporting events, each of which has aimed to assist Omani citizens in achieving their full potential on the global stage. The airline’s association with Oman Sail has seen Oman’s crews win world records and come highly placed in international ocean races. Motorsports star Ahmad Al Harthy and his Oman Air Racing Team are no strangers to the winner’s podium and recent tie-ups with aircraft manufacturers and engineering companies have underpinned a series of educational programmes with Omani schools and colleges.
