Oman Air Staff Benefit From Free Health Assessment Campaign

Published on : Monday, October 6, 2014

Oman-Air-Staff-BenefitOman Air staff in Muscat have received free medical assessments, as part of the Airline’s drive to improve health awareness throughout the company. Attendance was outstanding and more than 100 eager employees participated.
The assessments were organized by the Medical Welfare section of Oman Air’s Human Resources department and were delivered by Apollo Sugar. They included consultations with diabetes specialist, blood sugar and blood pressure checks, physical check-ups – including measurement of height, weight and BMI (body mass index) – and an awareness and education programme about the “Complications of Diabetes and how to delay the Complications”.
The Apollo Clinic is covered by National Life and General Insurance, which means that Oman Air employees and their dependents can use the clinic’s facilities if they need health care provision.
The assessments took place on 25th and 26th August and followed two previous assessment visits, in March and November of 2013. The assessments are offered by Apollo Sugar at no cost to either the airline or its staff.
The Medical Welfare section of Oman Air’s Human Resources department pursues a vigorous programme of bringing health awareness to the Oman Air community. It addresses a wide range of issues and offers daily health tips to staff throughout the workforce. It also works to raise awareness of a number of health risks and conditions, and works closely with female staff on cervical cancer and breast cancer awareness programmes.

The health assessments were the latest in an ongoing series of initiatives undertaken by Oman Air with the aim of safeguarding the health and well-being of its staff. These have ranged from health awareness programmes to support for cultural and spiritual activities, including the recent funding of Hajj pilgrimages for 13 staff.
