download-423Ontario International Airport (ONT) in the US has handled nearly two million passengers during the last six months, marking an increase of 1.81% when compared with the same period in 2013.

During the first six months of the year, international passenger traffic increased by 65.3%.
The rise was driven by Volaris, a new Mexican carrier at the airport that started operating from ONT twice a week since mid-April.

The company also plans to launch a third flight service at the airport in September this year.

The airport said that the passenger traffic has increased, despite a lower number of available seats.

ONT airport manager Jess Romo said: “We continue to see encouraging signs and we will watch the traffic numbers for the remainder of the year.”

June alone reflected an increase of more than 5.8%, when compared with June 2013.

Carriers are flying more efficiently with higher load factors, which positively impact their bottom line.”
