Open Day at the Airbus Lycee, Saturday 16th February to discover the aeronautical professions it proposes for young people

Published on : Thursday, February 7, 2013

Founded over sixty years ago, the Airbus Lycée is one of the rare Company Technical Colleges that still exist in France. Each year it trains around 360 young people for four trades in the aeronautical sector. This training consists of Bac Pro (vocational Baccalaureate) diplomas prepared over three years – in a school context for the first two years and then with apprentice status for the last year.

The following Bac Pro courses are proposed: Industrial Metalwork Technician; Machining Technician; Avionics Mechanic; Airframe Systems Mechanic.

After their Bac Pro, the best students can pursue their training with an Aeronautics BTS course (higher vocational training certificate). This 2-year course takes the form of an apprenticeship.

These courses address boys and girls who have reached French “3ème” (4th year) level at least. They must be highly motivated for teamwork and working on aircraft.

The Airbus Lycée will be holding its traditional Open Day on Saturday 16th February, 8 am to Midday (Airbus Saint-Eloi plant, 57 chemin du Sang de Serp – 31200 Toulouse – Metro line B, Canal du Midi station) to allow young people to discover the four professions it proposes.

The written admission tests for the next school year will held on 15th May 2013, and eligible candidates will have a motivation interview on 31st May or 3rd June
.
The students at the Airbus Lycée are immersed in the heart of the company right from day one: the classrooms and workshops are located in the Airbus Saint-Eloi plant, and the students benefit from the same working conditions as their future colleagues: corporate culture and operating rules, company restaurant… The Airbus Lycée is part of Airbus Operations SAS and is under contract to the French Ministry of Education. Teaching is free of charge and the students are entitled to state grants, in accordance with the regulations in force. Around one hundred pupils graduate from the Airbus Lycée each year, and most of them are then hired by Airbus, EADS or their aeronautical partners.
