Travelpulse.com, one of the nation’s most visited travel information sites, ranks Orlando International as number two in overall airport satisfaction.
In the survey, of the nation’s top 100 airports, Orlando International actually ranked number one in two categories, Family Friendliness and Ease of Access. Atlanta ranked number one in the survey.
“While other airport survey’s measure things that we have no control over, Travelpulse.com’s survey takes a comprehensive look at many variables such as ease of access and amenities offered to draw a more complete conclusion of how we really stack up,” says Frank Kruppenbacher, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “The results inspire us to continue focusing on the passenger and their Orlando Experience.”
Orlando International Airport is expecting nearly 10 percent more passenger traffic this Thanksgiving holiday travel season. In total more than 1.4 million travelers will move through MCO during the 12-day Thanksgiving period which runs from November 17th through November 28th.
Holiday Traffic Statistics:
Busiest Travel Day: Saturday, November 26 = 133,905
Least Busy Travel Day: Thursday, November 24 = 95,029
To better accommodate the increase in traffic, Orlando International is undertaking a number of measures to improve efficiency and enhance the overall travel experience.
“We are focusing on a number of key areas that we feel will help travelers during the busy holiday season,” says Phil Brown, Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “Technology and Customer Service are priority areas that we have placed a great deal of emphasis on during this construction phase to help move record numbers of passengers through our facilities.”
The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority partnered with Synect to create the Displayground. The Displayground will be one of the largest high-resolution video walls in the world, spanning the length of five football fields. This massive canvas delivers wayfinding, flight information, security information and other dynamic travel-related information to passengers at check-in. This information is paired with games and engaging media from the airport and airlines that decreases perceived wait times by keeping passengers informed and entertained.
The Displayground video wall is part of a network that fully integrates with airport systems to enable the delivery of media, information, entertainment and an enhanced passenger experience throughout the airport.
