Peruvian based craft brewery Barbarian had its Barbarian Red Ale beer awarded the gold medal at the Global Craft Beer Award 2014 in Berlin, Germany.
The event, annually organized by the Global Association of Craft Beer Brewers or GACBB, rewards the world’s top independent brews; it is the first award judged exclusively by the real experts in the field – the brewers.
According to a recent article published by El Comercio daily, Barbarian brewery was started in 2009 and its Barbarian Red Ale was the first beer they brewed. It is a 6.5 percent alcohol ale with a rich caramelized malt flavor.
After the success of Barbarian Red Ale, the beer-brewing company released two more beers to their selection: 174 IPA and Chaski Porter.
Year after year, GACBB invites all independent craft brewers to enter for a chance to gain recognition from their peers.
The event includes a wide variety of categories with various lagers and ales, as well as “Hybrid” and “Mixed” Beer categories.
