PotbelleezAustralian electro and dance trio The Potbelleez will get the party started at the 2014 Santos Tour Down Under with a free concert on Saturday January 18.
Following on from the official team presentation, the concert will showcase the redeveloped Victoria Square precinct as the official hub of the Santos Tour Down Under.
The Potbelleez are one of Australia’s most celebrated acts, with their single Don’t Hold Back twice reaching ARIA platinum status. The band’s other hits include Hello, From the Music and Are You With Me.
Minister for Tourism Leon Bignell encouraged locals and visitors to visit Victoria Square and join the celebrations.
“The Santos Tour Down Under is the most prestigious cycling event in the southern hemisphere and what better way to kick off the week’s excitement than with a free concert featuring one of Australia’s best acts,” Mr Bignell said.
“The official team presentation and performance by The Potbelleez is not only a treat for cycling fans but for the whole community. I encourage everyone to come down and enjoy the build up to the race.”
The pre-race celebrations will commence with the official team presentation at 6pm when legendary cycling commentators Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen will introduce the teams to the crowd and interview some of the world’s best cyclists.
The Potbelleez will take the stage immediately following the team presentation, kicking off celebrations for the 16th Santos Tour Down Under.
The Sydney-based band formed in 2003 and features DJs David Greene and Jonathon Murphy, along with Ilan Kidron on vocals.
The Santos Tour Down Under will be held in Adelaide and regional South Australia from 19-26 January 2014.
