Prestigious ‘Wool’ Conference on Way to Londonderry

Tourism Ireland is delighted to welcome the news that the British Wool Marketing Board will hold its annual conference and AGM in Londonderry in November 2013.

Over 100 delegates, representing the regional committees of the Wool Marketing Board, will travel to the city to hold their annual conference and AGM in the city’s Tower Hotel.

Tourism Ireland chief executive Niall Gibbons said: “This is great news for the city and a fantastic opportunity for the visiting delegates to sample some of the superb Derry~Londonderry UK City of Culture 2013 programme. Congratulations to Derry Visitor & Convention Bureau and all concerned in securing this prestigious conference – it shows once again that the city continues to compete successfully in the lucrative overseas conference market.

“Tourism Ireland has a busy programme of promotions planned for 2013 with a major focus on Derry~Londonderry UK City of Culture, which provides fresh and compelling reasons to visit Northern Ireland. Our message is that there has never been a better time to visit.”

Mr Ian Hartley, CEO of the British Wool Marketing Board, said: “We were very pleased to look at Derry~Londonderry as a venue to hold our AGM and annual conference for regional committee members and other representatives from the agricultural sector.

“After visiting the city and meeting with representatives from Derry Visitor & Convention Bureau, The Honourable The Irish Society and the City of Culture Company, we have agreed to hold our conference/AGM in Derry~Londonderry in November 2013 and take advantage, not only of the wonderful city, but also of linking with other events taking place as part of the City of Culture.”
