The works will run in conjunction with the Cumbernauld electrification programme. Planned engineering works between Springburn and Cumbernauld will go ahead as previously communicated.

Steve Montgomery, ScotRail’s managing director, said: “Network Rail engineers are working evenings and weekends to minimise disruption to customers. We will continue to give as much notice as possible of further timetable changes as the electrification works progress.

“On completion of the works, more modern and environmentally friendly trains will operate along the route.”

David Dickson, Network Rail’s area director for Scotland West, added: “This engineering work will further expand the electrification of Glasgow’s rail network and is an important part of our plans for the railway’s long-term future.

“These works cannot be completed without some interruption to services, but we are working closely with ScotRail to minimise disruption to journeys as much as possible.”
