bgals2The 8th edition of the International Kreol Festival was as planned a big success. The ‘Gran Konser’ drew the largest crowd who came to attend the performance of a multitude of International, regional and local artists. The presence and quite active participation of the attendees spiced up the starlight evening. Zouk Machine, the Guadeloupe legendary was the centre of attraction and it turned out some of its hits to the delight of the Mauritians. Other artists were also present such as Chicco Martino from Seychelles, Dominique Barret and B-Girls from Reunion Island, among others.

Even Le Morne inhabitants were mesmerized by the authentic sega evening, the famous ‘Sware Tipik’ which took place last Friday on the magnificent beach of Le Morne Village. More than fifty international reporters were present to cover the event.

The theme for the annual ‘konferans’ of the International Kreol Festival 2013 was ‘‘Moris dan lemond Kreol’. Presentations were conducted by the Honorable Ian Douglas (Minister of Tourism, Legal Affairs & Civil Aviation of Dominica) and Mrs. Gaëlle Bass (Part-time lecturer at University of Mauritius). They addressed the various aspects of the Creole culture in the world. Moreover, it is good to note that Mauritius is the second country in the world where the Creole language is the most spoken followed by the city of New York.

The International Kreol Festival was closed by the International Jockey’s Weekend 2013.
